Personal life: I was born in Cañon City, CO on 22 Aug 1973. My childhood was pretty normal/nondescript. I moved to Breckenridge, CO with my family when I was 9 and spent the next 20 years or so in the general area of Breckenridge/ Frisco/ Silverthorne (during the last three or four years I was splitting my time between the high country and the CUU).

I was married to Maria Eva Marquez at the Breckenridge courthouse on March 1, 1999. I moved to Chihuahua, Chihuahua in 2000 and have lived here permanently since (except from 2004-2006 when I worked seasonally in Colorado). Currently, I live with my wife, two grown stepsons, canine battering ram, and overindulged tortoiseshell princess.

Simming History:

2007-2008: MTS era

I made my first upload at Mod the Sims in July of 2007 under the name jasonduskey (some time before the release of Free Time). Most of my original series of uploads were lots and simple objects. To be honest, some of them weren’t very good and looking back I’m embarrassed that I uploaded some of them. A lot of my time was spent bickering with the admins and other creators, and at one point I was put in creator’s jail for 30 days.I made a few collaborations with StephSim around this time. Also around this time, I also posted at SapphireSims, but if memory serves I only uploaded a few things.

Drama and feuds during this period: disputes with 2007-era MTS admins

2009-2013: SimTrek era

At the beginning of 2009, I became active at a new form called SimTrek 2 Boldly Go. I was one of three featured contributors, along with K’Ehleyr and NixNivis. They were fun years, and we created a lot of cool stuff. SimTrek 2 was where I really found my legs as a creator. I made all types of custom objects, newer and better starship lots, a few accessories, and a new series of lots called Blue Heaven.

Unfortunately, new traffic to the forum began to dwindle and there were … creative differences. The operating cost of keeping the forum open was no longer a viable expense for K’Ehleyr, and so SimTrek closed its doors for good in January of 2014.

Drama and feuds during this period: a few minor spats with other forum members

2014-2015: Blue Heaven Sims, Blue Heaven Sims Adult, and MyB Sims

By the time SimTrek shut down, I was already active starting my own Sims 2 blog, Blue Heaven Sims. Prior to 2013, it was used mostly to share Sims extracted from my story blog (Blue Heaven Stories). Eventually, I started mirroring my posts from SimTrek to my blog, and publishing became a regular thing. I published some great content like Cargo Bay Series 4, Modular Furniture Series 4 (to date, the biggest repositoried furniture set ever for Sims 2, although the Midnight at… series is slowly overtaking it), and Project 2395. It was part of my frustration out of not being able to find a comprehensive, well written tutorial explaining the repository technique that I conceived an early version of the tutorial library.

It was also around this time that I started my first Sims 2 story blog: Blue Heaven Stories. I published regularly at this blog for a few years, creating an ongoing serial that spanned eight “seasons”. Unfortunately, Blue Heaven Stories was never completed, and the story blog has been dismantled. NixNivis helped me learn the basics of making poses, and in doing so created a monster :D. With this newfound knowledge, I set out to dramatically ameliorate the shortage of adult posing options for Sims 2. Most early iterations of adult poses were either really poorly done, or unrealistic/super artsy. I created a new blog, Blue Heaven Sims Adult, and published the Real Sex posebox series to remedy this.

For a short time, I was active at MyB Sims (a Spanish-language Sims 2 forum), but I eventually lost interest and went my own way. I’ve never been a joiner, really; I was perfectly happy doing my own thing.

Drama and feuds during this period: This period was surprisingly drama-free

2016-2017: The Bodice-Ripper posebox series, Plumb Bob Keep, and hiatus

Eventually I grew bored with creating the same type of adult poseboxes, and I began experimenting with something that could be used in a fantasy/medieval setting. This led to creating family-friendly fantasy/ medieval creations as well. Around this time, one of the admins from Plumb Bob Keep saw what I was doing (no names named; you know who you are and I still consider you a good friend) and invited me to share my creations at the Keep (the family-friendly stuff normally and the adult stuff behind the adult wall). At the time I was unaware of other forms of drama going on and I tentatively agreed.

Everything was cool for about a month until one of the Keep members was upset by one of the posts I’d made behind the adult wall. She made demands, I did what I could to meet them, and she made more unreasonable demands and complained to the admins. Not just the offending post, but ALL of the content I’d posted behind the adult wall was removed. This kind of stuck in my craw and still does. Hereafter, this whole mess will be referenced as The Incident.

Shortly after The Incident, two other Simmers communicated with me separately about the experiences they’d had at Plumb Bob Keep. While I don’t know the full truth of what happened, the way that I summarize it is a huge misunderstanding on both sides, but at the time I was still a bit irate about The Incident, so shortly thereafter stopped publishing at PBK altogether.

Around this time I had my content (from the BDSM Playset series) uploaded and redistributed without consent or credit. I was forced to file a DMCA claim with MediaFire.

As the Bodice-Ripper series of poseboxes was presented with an introductory story prefacing each scene, I expanded somewhat on these stories and began my second Sims 2 story blog, The Kingdom of Colton. I published regular updates for about a year, but eventually had issues when the image hosting site (Eroshare) suddenly and unexpectedly closed, leaving me with a bunch of broken images. Unfortunately, The Kingdom of Colton wasn’t completed and the blog has since been dismantled.

In August of 2017, my mother passed away after having dealt with heart problems for four years. This really affected my creative energy, and I took a long hiatus from Simming around this time.

Drama and feuds during this period: PBK drama, The Incident, stolen content, some unfortunate and protracted exchanges on AlmightyHat’s Dreamwidth

2017-2019: The Midnight at… series, Coni, and Combate Moderno

I returned strong with Midnight at the Cryo Lab, a set that encapsulated some of my best work and marked my 10-year anniversary as a Sims 2 creator. The Midnight series was (and continues to be) a solid success, and as of this writing has 64 publications. The series will continue to move forward, but will eventually end.

Always looking to expand traffic to my blogs, I looked into new venues such as SimsCave, SynapticSim’s Lair, Twitter, Discord, and Tumblr to “advertise” my work. Syn (an old friend and a creator who I have a massive amount of respect for) opened a Community Spotlight section on the new Lair forum to allow creators from other sites to post, and I make frequent submissions at the Lair.

Not long after the release of Midnight at the Surface (around late October 2017), I received an e-mail from a fan with an unusual request; she was very into military stuff and requested a set of fighter planes as storytelling props. The super-fan became my longest-running collaborator and remains my best friend in the community: Coni. The request was the inception of my ongoing Combate Moderno series, and has expanded greatly from the original set.

When the Midnight at… series had spawned enough assets to create a few story sets, I began a reboot of an earlier, unfinished story: Harmony Station. I originally used Tumblr as my venue of choice to showcase the story, but shortly the Tumblrpocalypse required all NSFW blogs to be removed. I deleted the Tumblr blog and created a new blog for my stories: Ocelotekatl’s Sims 2 Stories. The blog currently hosts Kingdom of Colton (the part that I finished), Harmony Station (the ongoing story), and a few other odds and ends.

Drama and feuds during this period: The Tumblrpocalypse and a few shouting matches on Discord

2020-2022: New beginnings

2020 began fairly normally. I began releasing content for Midnight at… and The Shop, and started a brand new project called Barbarians at the Gate. In March 2020, Blogspot changed its policy so that adult content is no longer allowed. At this point, I began migrating all of my blogs (about eight years’ worth of blog posts) to WordPress and Dreamwidth. I eliminated my story blog (I had to), but left the links to my stories. WordPress seems to have a nicer layout than Blogger, and it was easier to set up my posts and pages in a more logical manner. Later in the year, dissatisfied with Dreamwidth’s lack of features and support, I decided to move my adult poseboxes and objects to Pillowfort.

Quarantine was an unexpected boon: I had an incredibly productive period where at times I was uploading 3-4 times/week.

Around the beginning of 2020, I Joined Sims Crafters, a Discord dedicated to teaching and creating content. I accepted a role as a teacher, and even organized a few classes. The community saw much growth and change, and during this period I made a lot of new friends. Unfortunately, I had several disagreements with the moderation team regarding how the Discord should be administered, and ultimately left due to these disagreements.

About choosing the screen name “Ocelotekatl”:

The origin of my internet handle is a mystery to many. I’ve always been an avid fan of pre-colonial Mexican history and culture. One of the minor teoti (mislabeled “gods” by other cultures, but there isn’t really an equivalent) of the Triple Alliance was Ocelotekatl. No, little Jimmy, I don’t have a god complex, or at least not a highly developed one.

The name is derived from two Nahuatl words: ocelotl (feline, a word that describes anything from the largest puma to the smallest housecat without distinction) and ekatl (person). Ocelotekatl = cat person.

Ocelotekatl, the creative force behind Blue Heaven Sims (and Blue Heaven Sims Adult and Ocelotekatl’ Sims 2 Stories, too!) is J (the one who does the actual work) and Ophelia (the one who lies on the floor and judges silently).
